Our journey at a glance

    • The organization is founded as “Kingsway Community Care Center, Inc.” to provide free medical care to uninsured individuals in our community.

    • First clinic opens with a small team of volunteers and medical professionals.

    • Hope Healthcare begins in a 1,260 sq. ft. rented space, formerly a Sears & Roebuck home built from repurposed railroad cars.

      • June 14, 2005: First medical patient is seen in a clinic with 2 exam rooms and 8 volunteer physicians.

      • July 2005: First dental patient is treated in a space with 1 dental chair, supported by 6 volunteer dentists and 1 oral surgeon.

    • A Business Case for Support team is formed, led by Jim Beall, to secure funding from Hendricks Regional Health and IU Health West.

    • John Mollaun becomes Executive Director on January 2, 2007.

    • Hope Healthcare is recognized as a “Business Making a Difference in Hendricks County” by county commissioners in February 2007.

    • First grant received from the Hendricks County Community Foundation, covering the clinic’s annual rent.

    • 2008 – A New Home for Hope

      • Hope Healthcare purchases a 3,936 sq. ft. former laundromat/tanning business at 107 Park Place Blvd in July 2008.

      • Renovation begins with mostly volunteer labor.

      • Naomi Mynatt, board member and first clinical manager, receives the Indiana Governor’s Award for Volunteer Service.

      2009 – Expanded Care Begins

      • The newly renovated clinic opens in February 2009, featuring 4 medical exam rooms and 4 dental operatories.

      • Becomes a Butler University Pharmacy student clinical rotation site (2009-2014), later expanding to host students from 8+ colleges, universities, and local high schools.

      2012 – Strengthening Mission and Community

      • Hope Healthcare joins the Christian Community Health Fellowship (CCHF) in July 2012.

      • CCHF’s mission: “To encourage, engage and equip Christians to live out the gospel through healthcare among the poor and marginalized.”

    • Electronic Medical Records (EMR) implemented, marking a major step in improving patient care and efficiency.

    • This milestone paves the way for continued technological advancements as Hope Healthcare grows. (Include relevant tech image or photo.)

    • On July 10, 2015, the ministry is rebranded as Hope Healthcare Services, operating under the original entity name Kingsway Community Care Center, Inc.

      • The change helps eliminate confusion with the founding church, Kingsway Christian Church.

    • 2018 – Mental Health Services Begin

      • Debbie Fries joins Hope Healthcare as the first on-site therapist, expanding services to include mental health care.

      • Refining Grace Counseling becomes a partner in 2019, further strengthening support for patients.

      2019 – Investment in Medical Staff(Include IU Health photo)

      • Hope Healthcare receives a $200K two-year grant from the IU Health Foundation (2019-2020) to hire its first paid medical providers.

      • IU Health West becomes the largest financial donor, contributing $620K+ since 2007.

      • April 2019:Darla Gowan, DNP, is hired as Hope’s first staff medical provider. She serves patients on Mondays while also working as Assistant Dean of Nurse Practitioner Programs at Indiana Wesleyan University.

      • The change helps eliminate confusion with the founding church, Kingsway Christian Church.

  • January 2020 – Partnership with Indiana Rural Health Association

    • IRHA begins collaborating with Hope Healthcare on January 2, 2020, offering guidance to patients who may qualify for Medicaid and other assistance programs.

    • An IRHA office is established within the clinic, enhancing support for uninsured individuals.

    March 2020 – Navigating COVID-19

    • Hope Healthcare remains open every day, implementing telehealth visits, car-side appointments, and strict safety protocols to protect patients, staff, and volunteers.

    June 2020 – First Staff Dentist Joins

    • Dr. Holly Bradford becomes Hope’s first staff dentist on June 22, 2020.

    • She provides Monday dental services during the height of the pandemic, ensuring continued care for patients in need.

  • Volunteer Medical Director Honored

    • Dr. David Imler receives the 2021 Kris Gill Volunteer of the Year Award from Home Bank, recognizing his dedication to patient care.

    November 2021 – National Recognition

    • Hope Healthcare joins the National Association of Free and Charitable Clinics (NAFC).

    • Earns the NAFC Gold Rating for Quality Service in 2022, 2023, and 2024, reflecting a commitment to excellence in patient care.

  • September 2024 – Cliff Sweazey Appointed Executive Director

    • Cliff Sweazey begins as Executive Director on September 3, 2024.

    • Brings a diverse background in counseling, business, and church leadership, guiding Hope Healthcare into its next chapter.

  • New Resources for Whole-Person Wellness

    As Hope Healthcare continues to grow, we are expanding our support services beyond medical and dental care to help patients thrive in all aspects of life.

    • Financial Wellness – Partnering with Banzai to provide financial education and budgeting tools.

    • Nutrition & Education – Collaborating with Purdue to offer nutrition guidance and health education.

    • Employment & Skills Training – Connecting individuals with WorkOne for career development and job readiness.

    • Insurance & Assistance – Strengthening our partnership with IRHA to help patients navigate Medicaid and other healthcare resources.
