The ideal candidate is passionate about serving the underserved, embraces collaborative, patient-centered care, and desires to make a lasting impact in our community.

As part of our Christian faith-centered organization, the EFDA should support Hope’s mission to minister to the physical and spiritual health burdens of those in need—serving with integrity, compassion, and a heart for service. We are currently rebuilding our dental program and are looking for someone who would like to be part of building something special for the community.

In this role, you will provide advanced clinical and chairside support, helping deliver high-quality dental care in a compassionate and mission-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expanded-functions dental assisting duties in alignment with Indiana EFDA scope, including but not limited to: placing restorations (fillings), assisting with crowns, impressions, sealants, and other restorative or preventive procedures as permitted by law and under dentist supervision.

  • Chair-assist the dentist and hygienist during procedures, ensuring efficiency, safety, and patient comfort.

  • Take, process, and evaluate dental X-rays, maintaining proper documentation and safety standards.

  • Set up and break down operatories; prepare instrument trays, sterilize equipment, and uphold infection control protocols.

  • Maintain accurate, timely patient records in the electronic health system.

  • Educate patients on oral hygiene, post-operative care, and preventive dental practices in a clear and respectful manner.

  • Collaborate with the dental team, including hygienists, assistants, and volunteers, to ensure seamless care delivery.

  • Support the rebuilding and growth of the dental program by assisting with inventory management, equipment readiness, and workflow improvements.

  • Demonstrate professionalism, empathy, and teamwork consistent with Hope Healthcare Services’ mission and values.

Qualifications

  • Current Indiana EFDA certification (Expanded Functions Dental Assistant).

  • Current Indiana Dental Radiography License (required).

  • Current CPR/BLS certification (or ability to obtain).

  • Minimum 2 years of dental assisting experience preferred; nonprofit or community clinic experience a plus.

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with a commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.

  • Alignment with Hope Healthcare Services’ faith-based mission and desire to serve the uninsured community.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Schedule: 2–3 days per week (flexible scheduling available).

  • Compensation: Competitive hourly or daily rate, commensurate with experience. (Position may be structured as 1099 or W-2.)
