One Step Toward Wellness
Letter from the Director | August 2026
August is National Wellness Month, a reminder that wellness is about more than treating an illness or addressing an immediate concern. It is about caring for the whole person and making sure people have the opportunity to pursue better health, stability, and quality of life.
That belief is at the heart of why Hope exists. We believe everyone deserves access to compassionate, complete healthcare, regardless of their background, financial situation, employment, or season of life. For us, that means providing medical, dental, counseling, and spiritual care while also helping connect people to resources that support their overall well-being.
This is a different approach to healthcare. A visit may begin with a physical need, but it often leads to something more: trust, encouragement, education, connection, and the reassurance that someone truly cares. For the patients we serve, that kind of support can make a meaningful and lasting difference.
Hope is a reflection of what can happen when a community cares for one another. Staff, volunteers, healthcare providers, churches, businesses, organizations, and neighbors all play a part. It is people helping people, using their time, skills, resources, and compassion to help others move toward healthier lives.
During National Wellness Month, I encourage each of us to take one step toward better health. Schedule the doctor or dental appointment you have been putting off. Speak with a counselor. Attend a wellness or cooking class. Take a walk, make time to rest, or simply check in with someone who may need encouragement.
Wellness does not always begin with a major change. Sometimes, it begins with one small decision to care for ourselves or someone around us. That is the kind of community we want Hope to help build, one where people care for the body, mind, and spirit, and where no one has to pursue wellness alone.
Blessings,
