A Letter From the Director |
Congratulations on surviving maybe one of the longest Januarys in history. It’s still cold out, but we can see light ahead. Speaking of light, our annual gratitude report will be published soon—but I wanted to share a few highlights from the past year at Hope Healthcare Services now.
Last year, we saw meaningful growth in the ways we’re caring for neighbors without insurance—our medical visits increased by 29% year over year, counseling visits increased by 17%, and our overall patient visits increased by 13% as more individuals and families turned to Hope for affordable, compassionate care. |
| |
Behind every number is a person—a mom trying to stay healthy for her kids, a neighbor managing chronic conditions, someone finding support in a difficult season, or a family simply needing a place to turn.
We’re grateful—grateful to our patients for trusting us, grateful to our partners and providers who stand with us, and grateful to our donors and supporters who make it possible for Hope to continue being a place where people can receive care with dignity, compassion, and respect. Because of you, hope is not just a word—it’s something our neighbors can experience. Cliff Sweazey, Executive Director |

Friend’s Referral, A Fresh Start A patient shared that he has lived on his own since he was 18, after moving out of a troubled home. He’s been working hard to make it—but it’s been tough. After time on the streets, he recently moved in with a friend who helped him find stability and referred him to Hope Healthcare Services.
Without insurance, he didn’t know where he could go for care. He told us he’s genuinely excited that Hope exists—and grateful to have a place to turn for support. |

When Coverage Changes, Hope Still Exists |
If you’ve felt like health insurance has been shifting under your feet, you’re not imagining it. In 2026, many families are facing a tougher, more confusing coverage landscape—especially working families who were already walking a financial tightrope. Two big changes are colliding at the same time.

Oral Health Is Whole-Body Health |
Oral health is often treated like “separate” health—but it isn’t. The mouth is part of the body, and when dental care is delayed or out of reach, the effects show up everywhere: physical health, chronic disease management, mental health, work, finances, and family stability. The access gap is real—and it affects millions

We’re Still Seeking a Dental Hygienist
We are thrilled that Hopes’ dental program is now live—and we’re grateful to have our new dentist on board and already seeing patients. To keep this momentum going and expand the number of patients we can serve, we still need a Dental Hygienist. This is a paid position for 1–3 days per week. |

Medical Providers Needed: Primary Care & Specialists |
As the need continues to grow for our services, we’re working to add an additional clinic day each week. To make that possible, we’re looking for primary care physicians as well as specialty providers who can volunteer—even as little as 2–3 hours per month. We’ll gladly accommodate your schedule.
Hope Healthcare Services serves individuals and families without insurance, and your time can make a direct, immediate difference for neighbors who may otherwise go without care. If you are a specialty provider or a primary care physician (MD/DO/NP/PA) and are willing to see patients at Hope, we’d love to connect, give you a quick tour, and talk through how volunteering could work in a way that fits your availability.

Mercy Base Church Joins as a Faith Partner
We’re grateful to welcome Mercy Base Church as a new Faith Partner—standing with Hope Healthcare Services to support neighbors without insurance and strengthen access to affordable, holistic care. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to serve working individuals and families who are doing their best but still can’t afford coverage, high deductibles, or the cost of basic care.
In the announcement, Mercy Base shared that they regularly meet uninsured neighbors and small business owners facing rising insurance costs—and they’re honored to partner with Hope because of the compassionate, relational care our team provides. Read the full press release here for the full story and Pastor Rob Hovermale’s quote. This month, our featured Community Partner is the Hendricks County Health Partnership. They bring community organizations and leaders together to strengthen health and wellness across Hendricks County through collaboration, education, and shared resources. We’re grateful for their leadership and the way they help connect neighbors to the support and services they need.
We’re also thankful for their recent LCC-DFC grant award supporting Wraparound Recovery Support at Hope—helping subsidize counseling visits and strengthen outreach for uninsured individuals and families impacted by addiction recovery and suicide-related mental health needs. This month, we highlight: Mitchell Paeth Specialty: Registered Dietitian Nutritionist How long have you been at Hope? 6/10/25 Hobbies: Golf, Hiking, Volunteering at Church
Why did you come to Hope? I have had it on my heart for a year or so now that I wanted to serve the Lord by helping His children in the best way I could. I wanted to provide nutrition education to those individuals in the community that may not have the knowledge or financial means. |
I wanted to be a part of a local humanitarian effort with a Christ-centered mission that truly aided and assisted our neighbors who were in need of medical and essential health services. I chose to serve with HOPE because of the people who work there, the people they serve, and the mission they pursue. Thank you, Mitch, for your willingness to serve and for being the true "Heart of Hope." |

From Our Spiritual Care Team |

An interview with Troy Brewer, a pastor of a church in Texas, caught my attention on YouTube this week. His humble authenticity was engaging, and the subject he addressed stirred a memory from a ministry experience in my past. Troy shared about an experience from a mission trip in Central America.
